Goal: To create a safe tune with good mid through 6000 RPM pull with the components currently installed. This is my grown son’s daily driver so need to keep it reliable and on the road.
I have been tuning our 2005 FXT for the past month or so using the NASIOC “A Complete Tuning Guide” as my guide. During the process, I have been comparing in an Excel spreadsheet ROM parameters against three other ROMs 1) My slightly tuned 2006 FXT 2) Patrick’s Ultimate Stage 1 and 2 and 3) 2005 FXT 4EAT USDM Patrick’s Final (Both belonging to Patrick P931 I believe). I looked at every table in these four ROMs and have noted and in many cases changed our 05 FXT to match. I have learned so much and so thoroughly enjoyed all 27+ pages of Patrick’s adventure in learning how to and tuning his FXT.
I have completed to the best of my newbie ability per the “Complete Tuning Guide” Injector Flow Scaling, Injector Latency, MAF scaling and am fairly satisfied now with my Boost Tune (Only able to get about 10psi out of my TD04, maybe it’s tired, but good enough for now). The next step in “the Guide” is to tune fuel, but I unfortunately don’t have a wideband O2 sensor/gauge. I know it is the best way/only way to properly tune, but I cannot currently afford/justify a wide-band. I am hoping there are means to come close. My closed loop MAF scaling is really good and I believe what I have read under open loop the ECU bases the required fuel off of the closed loop scaling at the 40+ scale plus my Primary Open Loop Fueling table is mirrored after the other three ROMs I am using for reference.
My thought for now is skipping the open loop fuel tuning (calling it good enough…) and moving into tuning my Timing then AVCS and then calling it all good enough. I’m kind of hitting a motivational point that I just want to let my son drive his car so I can move into other projects/tweak my 06 Fozzy’s tune, etc. The Fozzy is driving really nice now, good strong pull, no knock, so I think I’m getting close to where I want it, so I am hoping to receive some feedback from some experts on my tune and my ROM to see if there is anything that jumps out as needing attention.
I am attaching my current ROM (Stock A2WC412D from Romraider with about 26 flashes by me, so should be legal to post) and two 2nd gear WOT pulls from this morning. Please let me know if I am recording too many parameters or if there are others you need to see. I record my “A/F Sensor #1 (AFR)” as a reference, but don’t really know if provides any accuracy at all at 100 throttle/open loop?.......Tel me if logging the OEM EGR would help in any way?

FXT Stage 1 Tune
Delicious Tuning - Stage 1 Tune for your Subaru Forester XT adds increased torque across the board and nearly eliminates the awful hesitations felt in the stock tune by many and seen in many baseline dyno charts. In order to use the full potential of the tune we highly recommend installing a cat back exhaust system (catted or not) and a Stock or Cobb Intake in order to take full advantage of the improved performance.
Our Stage 1 map smooths out the entire band, offers a linear power curve and improves the low-end torque and response while maintaining a very powerful, consistent and reliable tune. We have found aftermarket intakes are not necessary for getting the performance you desire out of the vehicle, although we can cater to any intake system. Turnaround Time on Tunes
Due to the heavy demand for tunes all tunes ordered online, orders may take up to 3 business days to process, but this is not a guarantee. This means a tune ordered on Friday may be delivered as late as midnight Wednesday the following week as Saturday and Sunday are considered non-business days.

Performance - Turn on your own portable performance evaluation suite! Measure 0-60mph time, 60 foot and 1/4 mile ET’s and Trap Speed. Switch to Dynamometer simulation and calculate your vehicle’s horsepower and torque.
Gauges - Monitor OEM sensor data on-the-fly. Use your Accessport as a gauge to monitor boost or any other live information, directly from the ECU.
Datalogging - Onboard datalogging allows multiple channels of data to be recorded simultaneously for later review. This allows for analysis of current engine performance. Datalogs can be sent to professional tuners to provide additional power gains remotely through email!
Trouble Codes - The AccessPORT allows you to read engine codes to troubleshoot issues and potentially save you from an expensive trip to the dealership. Once the issue is resolved, clear the codes and turn off the check engine light.
Uninstall - In the event the car must be returned to the stock configuration, the AccessPORT can be completely removed and the ECU restored to its factory condition. Perfect for trips to the dealership.
