We are building a vacation home and the builder's paint contractor uses Sherwin Williams exclusively. At first they proposed ProMar 200 and now, after hearing that is not a durable paint, we are thinking of moving up to Cashmere.

Couple of things I could use thoughts on --

  1. Is SW Cashmere actually a durable paint, and will I be able to wipe stains from the Flat sheen?

2. What sheen is preferable for the bathrooms? In addition to Flat, it comes in Low Lustre, Pearl, and Medium Lustre. (For comparison, I have Ben Moore Eggshell in bathrooms and don't find it to be overly shiny).

3. For the bathrooms, do I need to be concerned about water drips staining the walls and will I be able to wipe them (in Low Lustre, Pearl, or Medium Lustre)?

Any other thoughts on using Cashmere are also welcome; we're upping the price for paint by about $500 so not a ton, but it's still an investment and I want to make sure it will be worth it. (Using an even higher level - like Emerald or Duration - is not an option due to cost).

To answer this question correctly you need to review the job description and find key skills they are looking for and reassure the interviewer you have those skills.  For example, suppose you are in a sales associate interview. After reviewing the job description here is what I found.

This position is responsible for supporting the sales efforts at a Sherwin-Williams paint store, servicing wholesale and retail customers. It will assist customers in person and over the phone by determining needs and presenting appropriate products and services.       A hiring manager will be able to tell a lot about your personality by learning about your other career interests. If you could do anything over, what would you do, and why?

      "I certainly do not regret the direction I have taken my career; however, if I had to start over in a new direction completely I would likely pursue my Degree in Education and become a teacher. Both of my parents were teachers, and they seemed to have a very fulfilling career.     At Sherwin Williams, we do what we can to take environmentally friendly actions. Why do you believe it is important for paint to be environmentally-friendly?

      The painting industry is notorious for featuring non-healthy paint for their customers. Think Lead paint. Even though that was years ago, everyone is still aware of the dangers of lead-based paint. Customers nowadays want a product in their house, where their kids may be playing that is healthy and non-toxic. It's important that you are aware of these dangers and are able to inform any customers that Sherwin offers non-hazardous painting options.

      "I believe there is a lot at stake for homeowners when choosing a paint, especially one that minimizes toxins. If a customer chooses a zero VOC paint, they will reduce the number of harmful chemicals found in the air that they will be breathing in. This is a win-win for both Sherwin and their customers."

      Ryan's Answer

      "I am happy to know that Sherwin Williams offers a variety of painting options that are more healthy for humans. Such as their Harmony Interior paints. Of course, not all customers may be interested in knowing about the chemicals in their paint, but it's good knowledge to present to a customer in case that is something of concern to them."

  • 5. Tell me about a time when you displayed a great deal of trust at your last position. Most Sherwin Williams locations only have a few employees working at the store at any given time. Therefore, it's crucial the company can trust their employees to run their stores properly. Describe a time when you showed a great amount of trust to your previous employer. Example #1: "At the hardware store I worked at, the owner gave me keys so I could open and close the store. I was also in charge of my own cash register. They displayed a great amount of trust in me and I am grateful for that experience." Example #2: "Honesty is fundamental to me, and I was raised to be a truthful person at all times. When giving your answer, take pride in the fact that you helped your previous or current employer with their inventory control processes. Example #1: "I routinely checked inventory at the hardware store where I worked at previously. Each day, we had an inspection report we had to complete where we were assigned various products to check and report on the quantity we had in stock. This is a question I have thought of in the past, as I live in Cleveland Ohio (home of Sherwin Williams) and see their retail locations pop up across the suburbs and outskirt towns of Northeast Ohio, which is, how does Sherwin Williams compete against the likes of Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot? A few reasons could be; that they must be a preferred destination for contractors and professional painters. Even with the paint costs typically higher than that of a box store. One could conclude that professionals must find their paint to be superior to those of a box store. Also, the convenience of a phone call to a known Sherwin Williams worker, a person that will likely be familiar to your own product needs and will have your paint supplies ready to go when requested, is a huge perk. Example #1: "Your superior paint products attract contractors and professionals to choose your paint over the big retail locations. Plus, the personalization they have with your workers would be an added bonus." Example #2: "I think the convenience of your retail locations and the premium paint products you sell, outweigh the cheaper costs of the big box retail locations. As a person that has painted several years, I would always purchase Sherwin Williams because I know it's a one-coat application and a better product than the products found elsewhere."20. Tell me about a time when you have had multiple customers to take care of at the same time. Any retail environment, you can find yourself dealing with one customer and notice a few more customers waiting in line to speak with you. This scenario can be intimidating at first. Having experience handling this can be a benefit to you in your interview if this question comes up. Describe to the interviewer when this situation happens, you give your full attention to the customer at-hand, and know that the customers in-line will patiently wait for you. You especially do not want to hurry through a customer, a person that is making a big decision on their home (choosing their best painting needs) just to get to the next customer in-line. Example #1: "This scenario has happened to me a few times at the hardware store. All I could do is give my full attention to the customer at hand, and the customers waiting will wait until their turn. If I can, I would radio to my manager and have them help me in those cases." Example #2: "I rarely had this scenario happen at my last job. I do realize, that working at Sherwin Williams it's important to give your full attention to the customer you are currently taking care of. I know if I was a customer, making a purchase on paints, I would want the respect and full attention of the professional at hand to best guide me on the products that I was purchasing."21. When have you taken an existing process and used your own creativity to make it better? Are you given the creative freedom to improve existing processes? Talk to the interviewer about your ability to take an existing process and develop it creatively. Example #1: "Last month my supervisor asked me to take our existing sales training package and improve it. My goal was to make the system more engaging for recruits. Once we implemented my ideas, we increased our new trainee retention rate by 16%. I was quite proud of what my creativity could do!" Example #2: "I created a new training manual for our labor employees, last year. It included safety tips, training suggestions, and how-tos. Our employees appreciated having the resource, and I enjoyed creating it!"22. What feedback did you receive at your last job? Every manager has a different approach to giving feedback. Some prefer to save it for the performance review while others dish it out on the regular. Your response to feedback is much more important than the input itself. Even if it was negative, if you can take it as constructive criticism, you can improve yourself and your skills. Example #1: "My manager told me that I was spending too much time on the details of a project. I realized that I could be such a perfectionist that I lose track of time and hyper-focus on things that aren't that important. I'm learning to prioritize the steps I need to take and the tasks that need completion when working on a bigger project." How many days were you absent from work at your last position? Everyone needs a day off work, but an unexcused absence is not tolerable. Most Sherwin Williams locations only have two to three employees working, meaning if one were to call off, they would be short staffed. When giving your answer tell the interviewer you had no unexcused absences at your last position. You never called off, unless a dire circumstance came up. Example #1: "The only time I had to ask my manager for a day off was when I came down with the flu. They were very understanding and granted me the day off." Example #2: "At my last job, the only times I called off was when I coordinated with a fellow co-worker and switched shifts. This was always approved by management before we switched."24. When have you had to deal with conflict at work? How did you handle that conflict? The tension between coworkers can be draining, mainly if you work in a high-stress work environment. When asked a question about dealing with conflict or overcoming a challenge, think of an example first. Having a concrete situation to draw from will help you to think through the steps you take to deal with conflict. Example #1: "My coworker and I had a misunderstanding about the schedule. We both got frustrated, so I took a step back and asked if we could talk about it when we were both calm; so the tension didn't escalate. The next day I pulled him aside and asked if we could talk. We both shared our sides of the story and realized it was just a miscommunication." Example #2: "Conflict in the workplace is sometimes unavoidable when you have so many personalities working together. How would you react in this scenario: If a customer asks, Why would I purchase your paint for twice the price over the paint at the hardware store? What would you tell them? Many professionals know the answer to this question, but for any first-time painters, it can be a serious question. Is premium paint really worth twice the price of inferior paint? The answer to that is, it depends! Buying cheaper paint, you can risk adding up to three coats of paint to your walls before you have a solid finish. Most premium paints can only take one coat of paint. That alone would make the premium price worth it. Express your knowledge to the interviewer in this scenario. Example #1: "I would tell the customer, our paints typically can be applied with one coat. If you purchase a cheap can of paint, it can take a few coats to apply the paint. Resulting in you not saving any money. Plus, you get a better finish and a paint that will hold up longer than the cheaper paints." Example #2: "I would ask the customer where they are painting. If it's a rental property than I can understand their desire for the cheaper paint product. But, I think going with a premium paint, they would find the color lasting longer. Walls with a premium paint applied to them have a better ability to clean up than walls with a cheaper paint."26. If hired, would you hope to be managing a store in the next five years? Sherwin Williams offers a great Management training program through their retail locations. If you haven't researched this yet, I would recommend you do so. An interviewer will likely see your response to this and know how serious you are about a career with Sherwin Williams. Example #1: "Yes, I am thrilled that you offer this program. I would love to be a manager in the next five years. This would be a great career advancement for me and one of the reasons why I applied to your open position."27. Tell me about any remodeling projects you have worked on before. If you haven't discussed this in your interview yet, the interviewer is trying to find your experience in home improvement. Which typically leads to a decent knowledge of paint supplies. Depending of course, on how much home remodeling experience you have. Sherwin Williams will of course train all their new employees, so do not fret if you have no remodeling experience. Example #1: "Yes, I have remodeled over five houses with my father. He purchases fixer-uppers that he later rents out. So I am quite familiar with all of your painting products and your competitors." Example #2: "I, unfortunately, do not have any remodeling experience. Being a homeowner is a goal of mine, and I hope to learn all about painting so I can apply that knowledge to myself in the future."28. Besides paints, what other products do we sell? Sherwin Williams sells many products through their company. By visiting their website, you can get a quick idea of the products they sell. Some of the products include Stains, Paint Supplies, Sealers, and various Coatings. They also sell specialty paints, such as paints for Airplanes and Marine vehicles. Example #1: "I know your company sells a variety of paint supplies and paint equipment, such as rollers, brushes, tape, and spray equipment in your retail locations. Outside of your retail locations, I know you service other industries such as the Aerospace industry." Example #2: "In your retail locations, you sell paint supplies, such as paint brushes, rollers, and spray equipment."29. When have you worked with a customer that desired a lot of attention? How did you handle your interactions with that customer? Working at Sherwin Williams, you will come across a wide variety of customers. Some of those customers may be professional painters, contractors, or even a local homeowner looking to complete their first painting project in twenty years. Each customer may require a large amount of attention to accomplish their painting objectives. Describe your previous retail experience where you had to devote a large portion of your time handling one customer. Be sure to remain positive in your story-telling and describe how even though you spent a significant time with that customer, you knew it was worth it because you made the customer happy and loyal to your store. Example #1: "When I was working at the local hardware store, a young person, who just recently purchased a house in the community, came in looking to buy a leaf rake. What seemed like a simple purchase, ended up taking a while as the customer learned they might be interested in a leaf blower instead. We chatted about their yard size, and how many trees were on their property. The customer ended up purchasing the leaf blower. They came back a few months later and I asked them how their leaf blower performed, and they were definitely happy they made that purchase!" Example #2: "This will be my first retail job, but I believe I have plenty of customer experience under my belt through my interactions with my family. I am usually helping my grandparents with their home project needs and I often have to be patient with them and explain the various tools and procedures that will be used when completing their home projects for them. They have a lot of trust in me but they tend to ask a lot of questions as well!"30. Why did you decide to apply at Sherwin Williams? Most companies will want to know you have an interest in their company as to the reason why you applied there. Typically, they want a response that relates to them directly. Either you really enjoy the products the company sells, or know the company culture is something you admire. You can also cite how the company is known for promoting employees within. Example #1: "I heard Sherwin Williams promotes from within and it's very likely you can be a store manager within five to ten years. I think working for your store and your company will be an amazing growing experience for me and my career goals." Example #2: "I have worked as a professional painter for thirty years and have always used Sherwin Williams paints. I am winding down my personal business and am looking to stay in the painting industry and thought your store would be a perfect fit for me. I think I will be a great asset to your company and your customers, as I should be able to help your customers find exactly what they are looking for. I can even give my humble recommendations based on my personal experience."

We tend to be big fans of whatever design wisdom Kate has to share, and today she is answering her most commonly asked paint questions she gets on Instagram, from her favorite white paint (there’s a big difference between shades) to which color best matches each room in your home. Keep reading for Kate’s tips to a perfectly painted home…

    Hi guys! It’s Kate Lester, from Kate Lester Interiors and I am back on the blog ready to talk design. Most days, if I am breathing, I am talking about paint: what colors we’re loving, what finishes we’re using, and the perfect sheens for every area. In fact, if I had a dollar for every time someone asked about our favorite white paint, I would, well... let’s just say I would be doing a lot more sipping drinks with umbrellas and a lot less designing. Ok, I digress, let’s get to it.

    The most commonly asked question I get on our blog and social media is “OMG what is that paint color?” and for good reason. We spend endless hours buying small paint samples, painting them on 12x12 white poster board, and then looking at them day and night to find just the right hue. So, because you are Gray’s loyal readers, and we love Gray, I am going to save you countless hours of pondering. I’m going to share some of my faves right here, right now in this blog post.

    WHITE PAINT

    Let’s start with white. White is white, right? WRONG. White is most definitely not white. In fact—there are hundreds of “white” paint colors and they are not all created equal. Some are too creamy, some are too gray, and some are just plain chalky. I am so picky when it comes to white paint, that I pretty much only use one white paint, like, ever. When it comes to white, Simply White by Benjamin Moore is the most perfect white in like 99% of spaces. It looks good in basements, east-facing rooms, west-facing rooms, and even rooms with minimal natural light. The key to this color is the balance in the pigment, and the fact that it has very little yellow, blue, or gray in it. The absence of those colors makes for a crisp, clean white that is a showstopper every time. White is a no-brainer if you are going for a room with a gallery wall or more colorful artwork; I think it’s the perfect backdrop to really let art and photography shine!

    BLUE PAINT

    Next let talk blues. Being by the beach, my designs are always infused with coastal influence, (which is why we love the GM brand!) but I really try to keep things interesting by not always falling back on a traditional navy when a client is excited about blue. At our studio we tend to categorize blues to keep it simple: light blues, coastal blues, classic blues, and deep blues. Below are a few of my favorites for each category that have been Kate Lester tested and approved:

    If you really want some secret designer insight, I firmly believe that the key to a great blue is the addition of a little gray in the pigment, so you will see that many of my selections lean that way. Having trouble selecting a type of blue? Look to your art, fabric or accessories and pull a color from there!

    GRAY PAINT

    After blues and whites, I would say the third hardest color to get right is gray. Sometimes it looks purple, sometimes, pink, and sometimes it even turns blue. You don’t know how many sample pots of gray I have had to go through to learn this. Let me save you some time and energy and tell you that the most amazing gray is Light French Gray by Sherwin Williams. No purple or blue here folks, just a really fantastic gray that looks good in the morning, noon and night.

    BLACK PAINT

    Now that we’ve covered the Kate Lester Interiors staples, let’s move on to black. Let it be known that I 100% believe that black is, in fact, the new black. I am currently obsessed with black windows, black islands, black furnishings, and my golden rule is that all rooms we design should have one piece of vintage and a little bit of black! The biggest pushback I get from clients when suggesting black is that it may make a room feel dark or sad. The interesting thing, is that a hint of black actually grounds a space and ups the contrast, in turn making everything crisper and brighter. So please take note when I say that Fade to Black by Portola Paints is the most amazing black. Now be brave and go out and buy some black paint and get busy!

    GENERAL PAINT TIPS

    Ok, now that we’ve gotten colors squared away, let’s talk tips. When you are picking paint colors and getting samples limit yourself to three samples per color. Too many options will literally make you crazy and then you’ll just end up going with Swiss Coffee and every time someone does that an interior designer dies a little bit inside. Once you have your three trusty samples, paint them on 12x12 sheets of white poster board—NOT ON THE WALL where your old paint color is! Your old ugly paint color will reflect its horribleness onto the new color and it will make it virtually impossible to see how fabulous the new color will look in that space. Once your samples are painted, tack them up or lay them out in the room. Then look at them in the morning, afternoon and evening. This is very important, as some colors change with direct sun, and shade. When you see a color get ugly at night you will thank me that you found this out before you painted your entire kitchen!

    PAINT SHEEN

    Once you have your color selected, you are good to go, right? Nope. But we’re almost there. Now it’s time to pick the sheen, which is actually just as important as the color itself. One rule of thumb is usually a Pearl or Semi-Gloss sheen for paneling, doors, trim and baseboards. For walls and ceilings, I tend to stick with flat because it’s the easiest to touch up and reflects light really nicely. Whether you are painting one room or a whole house, try to have fun with it and remember it’s just paint! If it doesn’t look right, redo it! Paint is one of the easiest ways to rehab or refresh a space, and it’s easy to change—that’s what makes it great! So get your sample pots, pour yourself a cocktail and have a paint party!

    Frequently Asked Painting Questions

    If you’re looking for a painting company, you will soon become to understand the benefits of hiring professional painters.  Our team can walk you through the entire process, answering all of the questions you may have along the way. Take a look below at some of the most frequently asked painting questions and answers as you begin to navigate your painting project.

    General Questions to Ask When Hiring a Painter

    Since you’ve decided to hire a painter for your house, there are common house painting questions you will likely want to ask before you decide they’re the company you want to hire.

    1. What type of paint do you use and why?

    We primarily use quality products from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. If there’s another brand you’re interested in using, talk with your estimator, we’d be happy to accommodate you.

     

    1. Do you still use oil-based paints? What is the primary difference between oil- and water-based (acrylic, latex) paints? What are the benefits of each?

    Oil-based paints have mostly been removed from the market since they are not as environmentally friendly as newer options such as latex paint (water-based) and acrylic (chemical-based). Oil-based paints can have hydrocarbons and high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). While they do have some redeeming qualities,  (smoother look, good moisture resistance, ultimate hardness, and durability), they tend to become very brittle as they age. This can lead to cracking, peeling, and ultimately to the failure of the paint. Also, when used on exteriors and moisture-prone areas on interiors, oil-based paints have a tendency to mildew because some of their ingredients act as a food source for mildew.

    On the other hand, latex and acrylic paints have come a long way and now outperform their oil-based counterparts. Today’s latex and acrylic paints exhibit excellent qualities such as moisture resistance, mildew resistance, flexibility, colorfastness, and block resistance (the ability to not stick to itself or other objects, such as items on a painted shelf). Most of the water-based paints we use are known as 100% acrylic, which is of the highest available quality.

     

    1. What types of environmentally friendly options do you offer?

    Most paints already have low VOCs. However, non-VOC paints are available upon request.

     

    1. How many coats of paint are included in the quote?

    We always apply two coats of paint, guaranteed. However, there are some cases where two coats are not needed. If this is the case, we would discuss it with the customer.

     

    1. If I buy all of my own materials, will I be able to save money that way?

    When you work through professional companies such as Nolan Painting, we advise that you allow the professionals to provide the materials as they generally get discounts due to the number of materials they purchase for their business. Our estimates include the cost of paint!

     

    1. What is the typical longevity of a new paint job?

    When done well, most paint jobs should last between seven and ten years. There are several factors that affect the longevity of a paint job including the exterior’s finish, where you are located, and the quality of the previous paint job. 

    It’s also important to consider how well the area being painted is prepared. Prepping an area for paint is a key factor in how long the paint job will last. Also, the quality of the surface being painted is a factor. When painting an outdoor surface, how much that surface is exposed to the elements and whether or not the building being painted is protected by other buildings can play a role in how long that paint job will last.

     

    Interior Painting Questions

    1. How does lead paint impact a painting project?

    There has been no lead paint used for residential purposes since 1978, when it was deemed against the law. But even if your home has been painted since 1978, it’s highly likely that lead paint is present. Therefore, we are required to test for lead paint in any home built prior to 1978. Our painters undergo lead-safe training and adhere to the correct practices.

    If the tests for lead return positive, we must and will take all precautions to ensure that your family, our employees, and the environment are safe and protected.

     

    1. If a paint says it’s a paint and primer all-in-one, does that mean primer is mixed in with the paint?

    These types of paints don’t actually have primer mixed in with them, but they do have a resin that gives them the property of good adhesion. This will make the use of primer unnecessary in many circumstances.

     

    1. Would you need to prime an area before painting it with another coat of latex paint?

    No, we don’t always need a primer when we repaint with another coat of paint. We would lightly sand the area you wish to repaint and clean that area thoroughly. Once this is done, we repaint the area — though you may need more than one coat of paint. If you’re changing sheens of paint or making a significant change in colors, we may need to use a primer.

     

    1. What are the different kinds of paint finishes?
    • Flat (Matte) Finish — Little to no shine at all. This finish is great for covering imperfections on the surface but is not the most durable option.
    • Eggshell Finish – This low-luster finish provides a small amount of shine. Eggshell finishes are great in areas that do not get very dirty, (i.e. low traffic areas such as an entryway or living room.)
    • Satin Finish – This is the most popular finish for interior spaces in a home. This finish has a velvety sheen. It’s easy to clean so it can be used in high traffic rooms like your kitchen!
    • Semi-Gloss – This finish has more shine and reflective qualities than other finishes. It’s great for rooms that get a lot of traffic and steam such as bathrooms as it’s mildew-resistant.
    • High-Gloss – This finish is the shiniest, most durable, and easiest to clean. This type of paint is perfect for cabinetry, doors, and certain trims.
    1. What are the advantages of using flat finish paint?

    This type of paint will reflect a greater amount of light, and the surfaces will look more uniform. Imperfections are minimized and the surface area to be painted does not require as much preparation, meaning little sanding is required, unlike paints with a higher gloss or sheen.

    Flat finish paints are less likely to show marks where the painting has been done, which are called “lap marks.” The lap marks will occur when you paint one section which dries before the other section has been painted.

     

    1. Why would you want to avoid using flat paint?

    These paints are not very stain-resistant, and should not be used if you have a surface you will need to clean or scrub frequently. They are also not very resistant to moisture and shouldn’t be used in areas that have high humidity, such as bathrooms.

     

    1. Why would I want to use a higher gloss or sheen paint?

    This type of paint resists stains and dirt better, so the surface will stay clean for a longer period of time. Surfaces painted with higher-gloss paints are also easier to clean and more resistant to humidity. Therefore, these paints are best suited for high-traffic areas and bathrooms.

     

    1. Why avoid using higher-gloss paint?

    These types of paints will show imperfections in the surface much more than flatter paint. Additionally, it’s more difficult to do touch-ups with higher-gloss paints, as any touch-ups will likely show.

     

    1. Can you offer advice on how to choose a color?

    Lighting, architecture, and room décor are three factors to consider when choosing a paint color. An ideal paint color is one that considers all three elements and provides balance and unity to the space. At Nolan Painting, we offer a free consultation with our color consultant with any booked job.

     

    1. What if I don’t like the color selected? Can I change it?

    Yes. The final color is ultimately the homeowner’s choice, but note that there will be an additional cost for a color change. The additional cost is determined by how much of the job was already completed, along with the cost of the additional paint.

     

    1. How can I ensure that my interior paint job will last as long as possible?

    Interior painting jobs can get dirty quickly, especially around light switches and doorknobs, it’s important to wipe away any spots that accumulate before they become trapped in the paint. Dirt spots are most likely to occur in areas near where you’re cooking. Cooking oil, once airborne, can land on the nearby walls.

    To remove spots on your paint, we recommend that you first try removing any spots with a soft cloth and mild soap to avoid damaging the sheen of the paint before you resort to harsher cleansers. Once you have cleaned the spot, remove any residue left from the soap so it will be easier to apply paint, should you decide to paint the wall again in the future.

     

    Exterior Painting Questions

    1. Can you paint the exterior of my home in the wintertime?

    The exterior of your home cannot be painted in the winter. The winter season in the Philadelphia area lasts from the beginning of December to mid-April.

     

    1. Are there certain times of year or weather conditions that would prohibit any type of service?

    Yes, we cannot in temperatures below 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

     

    1. How can I increase the length of time my paint job will last?

    You will need to make sure you secure the highest-quality paints and materials. Also, you will want to have your home power-washed every few years to extend the life of an external paint job.

    Preparation is key! All surfaces are different and have different abilities to bond to paint. In order to ensure good bonding, you want to make sure the surface you are painting is clean!

    1. How long will the job take?

    Each job can be different depending on the project. When you give us a call to explain what you are looking to have done, we can discuss the scope of work and give you an estimated timeline. We do guarantee the job will get done within 10 days or less if you’re having a job done in the winter season. A typical bedroom would take about a day or two to paint the walls, including ceiling and trim. You should plan on not having access to the bedroom for at least one night.

     

    1. How quickly can an estimator get to my home?

    The wait time for an estimate is generally one week or less. There are times during the year (April, May, and June) when we get many calls, and during which the wait time can reach two weeks.

    1. How do I prepare my rooms for your visit?

    You will need to remove any small items from the tops of shelves and pictures from your walls. We can move the larger items toward the center of the room to properly cover and protect furniture/items.

     

    1. How much will this painting job disrupt my home?

    Disruption is kept to a minimum. At the end of each day, our crews will clean the areas we’re working in and move tools and paint to a shop area (garage or basement).

     

    1. My room is wallpapered now. How will you handle that?

    We will remove the wallpaper prior to painting. Before we remove the paper, we will test an area to see how the paper was applied. If the wallpaper was not applied properly, it may lead to damage to the walls when the paper is removed. Your crew leader will discuss your other options if this is the case.

     

    1. Can you fix water damage or holes in my walls, and if so, how long will it take?

    We will fill old holes, fix water damage and make any other repairs as needed, as part of our preparation. The time it takes to repair is in proportion to the amount of damage.

     

    1. Can I trust your employees?

    Yes. Our professional custom painters are full-time employees and not subcontractors. We perform reference and background checks for everybody we bring on board.

     

    1. Are you insured?

    Yes. For your protection and ours, we offer up to $2 million liability.

     

    1. Are you licensed?

    We have all appropriate licenses, which include PA Home Improvement Contractor #020814 and EPA Lead Safe Certified Firm NAT-26976-1. Each Crew Leader is EPA Certified. All employees receive Lead Safe Training.

    Yes! We offer a two-year limited warranty.
