May 26—Kilgore College is hosting summer camps for children and youth beginning in June in topics like basketball, acting, twirling, football and dance.

Softball Youth Skills Camp

When: June 7-11, 2021 (Tues-Wed)

Where: The Ballpark at KC Commons

Ages: Age 6 to students entering 8th grade

Cost: $50 per student

Football Youth Skills Camp

When: June 7-11, 2021 (Mon-Fri)

Where: R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium

Ages: 7-15

Check-in and registration: 7 to 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, at the football stadium

Cost: $125. A $50 application fee is required at time of application and is non-refundable after May 31. Balance is due by registration (Monday, June 7). Cost will include instruction, a souvenir KC football and a camp certificate.

Music Machine Sacred Music Camp

A one-week inter-denominational sacred music summer camp for children who have completed kindergarten through 6th grades.

When: Aug. 9-14, 2021 (Mon-Sat)

About: A one-week inter-denominational sacred music summer camp for children

Ages: Students who have completed K-6th grade

Where: Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center (Kilgore campus)

Cost: Early Registration is April 15-June 18: $150/camper; Late Registration is June 19-July 9: $165/camper. A $10 discount for first additional sibling from the same family and $5 for each additional sibling (i.e. $150 for the first child; $140 for the second child; $135 for the third child, etc.)

• Wednesday, 13 — Payment Deadline for Fall 2. Unpaid drops will occur on Thursday, Oct. 14.

• Wednesday, 13 — Longview Community Ministries will host its free mobile food pantry in the parking lot of KC-Longview from 11 a.m. to noon. This is a monthly event in conjunction with College Connection. All participants are required to complete a short survey before the delivery date. • Thursday, 14 — Final Grades due at 10 a.m. for Fall 1 8-week classes.

• Thursday, 14 — The PTA Club will host “Fun in the Plaza” from 1 to 3 p.m. Celebrate Physical Therapy Month by joining them in the Mike Miller Plaza for kickball, yoga and cornhole. 

• Thursday, 14 — The Diversity Alliance will have a pizza and game night at 4 p.m. in Old Main, Room 138. The Diversity Alliance is an LGBTQIA+ organization. All genders and orientations are welcome.

Announcements

 Today through Sunday, 10 —  KC Theatre will present a modern version of the 18th century classic, “The Servant of Two Masters.” Performances are 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday, (Oct. 8-9), with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. General admission tickets are $7 for KC students with student ID and $10 for adults. Social distancing measures and face coverings are encouraged. Tickets can be purchased online at www.kilgore.edu/drama or by phone at (903) 983-8126.

• Saturday, 9 — The #15 ranked KC Rangers football team travels to play at 3 p.m. against Cisco College. It will be livestreamed on the Cisco College Football FaceBook page: ciscowranglerfb. Streaming typically starts just before kick-off.

• Monday, 11 — KC will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the carpeted gym of Parks Fitness Center. Only the Pfizer (2 doses) and the Pfizer booster will be available. Anyone 18 or older can receive the vaccine. Persons 12 to 17 years old must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian at the vaccine clinics. If you have received another vaccination of any kind, including flu or Shingles, or have recently tested positive for COVID-19, you should wait at least 14 days before receiving the first (or a second) COVID-19 vaccine. • Friday, Oct. 15, is the deadline for students to submit a video to the KC Residential Life Virtual TIK-TOK Talent Show. This event is open to ALL students (on- and off-campus). They can upload their talent video on KC’s TIK-TOK page @KilgoreCollege1935 for a chance to win prizes and earn Cruise for Success points.

 • Voting is on-going for the 3rd annual KilGORE College Horror Movie Festival. Go to: https://bit.ly/kilGORE or scan the QR code on one of the posters around campus to vote in the categories of: Classic Slasher Gore Horror, Comedy Horror, Sci-Fi Horror, Supernatural/Psychological Horror, Monster Horror, and Natural Horror. The selections offer us a chance to bring back the classics, such as Boris Karloff’s 1931 “Frankenstein" or Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 "The Birds."
