Mower mandrel

Mower mandrel DEFAULT

This no grease mandrel assembly includes housing, shaft assembly, bearing, and nut only - pulley/washer and blade bolt/washers are not included. This is the part the mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by four bolts.

Spacer must be installed under the pulley. Installing with the spacer on top of the pulley (or failing to use spacer) will result in damage to shaft and pulley.

The mounting holes on the Mandrel are not threaded. But the bolts that are used to secure the mandrel to the deck are self tapping. The Mandrel shaft goes thru the deck and the pulleys are attached to them, then the belt that drives the mandrels is placed in the pulleys.

colds are caused by viruses. antibiotics cannot treat viruses. instead, drink plenty of liquids to replace those lost from sweating and runny noses. get lots of rest and eat healthily. do not ask your gp for antibiotics for a cold.

you will usually feel worse during the first 2 to 3 days before gradually starting to improve. your symptoms will usually last about a week.

Replacing Deck Spindle assembly on Husqvarna Riding Mower

How to Remove a Mandrel Pulley From a Tractor Mower

By Diana K. Williams

Pliers aid in pulling out retainer springs.

Riding lawn mower decks are equipped with two to three mandrel pulleys, depending on the number of cutting blades. The blade drive belt wraps around each pulley spinning it, which turns the blades. Mandrel pulleys don’t require regular lubrication, but occasionally they do wear out and need to be replaced.

Switch the key to the off position and remove it from the ignition. Set the parking brake. Lower the mower deck to the lowest position.

Remove the mower deck by pulling out the retainer springs, or spring locking pins on some brands, from the component arms attaching the deck to the tractor. The number of component arms varies by brand, but most have one to two front hangers, two rear hangers (also called draft arms), two suspension arms near mid-deck and one anti-sway bar on the rear of the deck.

Disconnect the extension spring from the rod that controls the clutch, which turns the blades on and off, by unhooking it. Some brands use a retainer spring instead of an extension spring.

Roll the deck drive belt off of the engine pulley attached to the tractor.

Pull the deck out from under the tractor by grabbing the deck on the side with the grass chute and pulling between the front and rear wheel toward you.

Spray the flange nut holding the mandrel pulley to the spindle with penetrating oil. Allow it to work for 2 to 3 minutes before attempting to remove the nut.

Lift the mower deck and place a large block of wood in front of the blades and another block behind them. This keeps the blades stationary when removing the flange nut.

Remove the flange nut from the top of the pulley using a socket wrench. Turn the nut counterclockwise to remove it. If you’re having trouble breaking the nut loose, reapply the penetrating oil.

Lift the pulley off the spindle to remove it. Remove the spacer under the pulley.

Tips

  • Some manufacturers recommend replacing the spacer under the mandrel pulley when replacing the mandrel. Spacers wear over time and can become weak and crack.
  • Over time metal ages and becomes brittle. Because of this, some retainer springs will shear in half when removing them. Replace with new retainer springs.

Warnings

  • Follow all safety warnings in the operator’s manual.
